Rocket Software releases Rocket Discover 1.5

Rocket Software announced the general availability of Rocket Discover 1.5, a self-service data preparation, visualization and discovery solution for business managers and executives. Its IBM Native Connect feature, engineered in close collaboration with IBM labs, gives IBM Cognos business users the ability to connect, visualize and collaborate on their IBM Cognos TM1 cubes, and Cognos BI content such as Queries, and PowerCubes for increased ROI of existing Cognos investments.

Discover 1.5 makes it easier to combine data from many different sources, providing suggestions that speed up the data enrichment process. Discover 1.5 also adds new Presentation features that make it easier for users to communicate their insights and data narratives in a clear and precise framework, simplifying discussions and accelerating business decisions. Key features include:

  • IBM Cognos Native Connectivity empowers Cognos business users to quickly and easily create dashboards for greater business insights. What would have previously taken days or weeks can now be accomplished in a matter of minutes by reducing dependence on the IT group.
  • Smarter Self-Service Data Prep accelerates data enrichment across relational, mainframe, and local data sources for richer visualization and deeper discovery.
  • Presentation mode makes it simple to display insights in an interface-free presentation format, while still providing the ability to drill down into source data if needed.

Claudia Imhoff, President of Intelligent Solutions, Inc. and Founder of the Boulder BI Brain Trust (BBBT), says that Rocket Discover is setting a new benchmark for BI. "Rocket continues to impress, with Discover 1.5 giving business users an enhanced set of data visualization and reporting tools. The latest version also opens up opportunities for IBM Cognos BI 10 and TM1 users with native connectivity that provides faster access to business insights. It's a win-win for Rocket and IBM founded on a relationship started decades ago."

"We've made a significant investment in Rocket's BI and performance tools over the last several years, so we were excited to hear about Rocket's newest tool targeting business users," says Peter Merrett, Performance Development Manager at the Merlin Housing Society in Bristol, UK. "Rocket Discover allows our business users to work directly with their data and create dashboards. Previously, our performance team got ongoing requests to create these dashboards. As we deploy Discover, these requests will decrease dramatically. Users will be empowered to quickly and easily understand who our tenants are, their needs, and how we can tailor our service levels to each tenant."

Rocket Discover 1.5 is currently available in on-premises and cloud versions for both Windows and Linux environments.
