Session: Writing online documentation using Markdown

Whether it is online Help files, an occasional white paper, or a full application manual, online usually means HTML. There are a variety of ways to accomplish this all the way from knocking out HTML with a text editor to using a full XML-based documentation scheme like DocBook or DITA. Markdown is a shorthand form that let's you write documents with any text editor (even the old ED verb), and turn it into HTML without needing to know, remember, or code any HTML tags. Once you have the HTML, you can post it to the web or use readily available Open Source utilities to convert it other formats such as RTF, PDF, Word, LaTeX, etc.
