OpenDB 3.3 Released

TigerLogic Corporation is pleased to announce the General Availability of OpenDB 3.3, a minor release update for D3 database platforms version 9.0 or later. OpenDB 3.3 includes many customer requested enhancements.

Key New Features:

  • Compatibility with D3 v9.0.
  • Added 64-bit ODBC driver support: 64-bit drivers require the use of the ‘opendb64.exe’ executable.
  • Added IPv6 support. OpenDB 3.3 now supports both IPv4 and IPv6 connections.
  • Enhanced Q-pointer definition: Allows an optional schema name to be specified against a table name.
Improved security: New set-opendb-password utility provides ability to encrypt the password required by some DSN's.
  • Updated OpenDB User's Guide. The OpenDB executable is referred to as ‘opendb.exe,’ unless you are using 64-bit ODBC drivers, in which case the executable is named ‘opendb64.exe.’ The file names opendb.exe and opendb64.exe are used interchangeably throughout the OpenDB User's Guide.

OpenDB is a stand-alone Windows application that provides access to ODBC-compliant databases from the D3 environment. Once the connection between D3 and the remote database server is established, D3 is able to read, write and select data from the RDBMS as if it were a part of D3.
